
Teachers at the high school level are encouraged to participate in the nationwide competitive program. Congressional district winners go on to compete at a statewide hearing, and state champions travel to Washington, D.C., in the spring to represent their state in the We the People national finals. |

The Project Citizen Texas State Showcase is the culminating activity for this civic education program for middle school students. As a class project, students work together to identify and study a public policy issue, eventually developing an action plan for implementing their policy. The final product is a portfolio displaying each group's work and a research documentation notebook. |

The Hatton W. Sumners Editorial Contest is designed to build on the success of the Hatton W. Sumners Institutes on the Founding Documents and provide incentives for more active participation in the study of the principles of American democratic self-government in high schools across Texas. In doing so, it will recognize both those students who demonstrate an understanding of those basic American principles through superior editorials and their teachers. |

The Texas Citizen Bee student competition is a new addition to the Law Focused Education, Inc list of student programs. The statewide civic education program and academic competition, offers teachers and high school students (9th-12th grades) an exciting way to reach and study America's heritage. |

The printing and distribution of Now You Are 18, a copyrighted legal education publication, is an ongoing project of the Texas Lawyers Auxiliary, auxiliary to the State Bar of Texas. The purpose of the book is to explain some of the new rights you have, areas of the law that you want to or should know about, as well as your legal obligations once you become age 18 in the state of Texas. |
